Real estate is a brilliant business which gives homes 🏡 to people. At times it comes with a garnish of greed and panic + a false sense of accomplishment. Imagine the city you’re invested in doesn’t have clean air to breath, or you face hours of traffic gridlock during your daily commute to work? We usually take that in our “strides.”
I didn’t have the time to visit Paris but decided on visiting a small French town instead. 25 minutes train ride from Geneva, Annemasse has a Novotel Hotels property right outside the railway station 🚉. If you check the rates, it’ll be half or less on the OTAs, compared to Geneva, you can ride a bus, too, in 45 minutes.
I texted my friend in the French Embassy, Delhi.
“Your country is beautiful 😍, have come to Annemasse.”
He promptly replied with a – “Thank you! I own a small apartment in Annemasse. I am from Lyon”.
I started photographing the Houses. Clean air, azure blue sky, chirping birds, super clean pavements welcomed me to the neighborhood. One house (in this carousel 🎠) had a beautiful mail box and a small Renault Group car. I made an instant imaginary purchase there with my imaginary Euros 💶. Actually I had a thin wad of them in my waist pouch. I could afford the mail box, for sure.
I finished my apple 🍎, threw the core in a bin next to the walkway. Walked up to a coffee ☕️ shop with loud Turkish immigrants, they were busy smoking 🚬 and watching football ⚽️ on 2 large screens, and chatting loudly. I crossed a park with golden leaves under my feet, it is a Fall-autumn collection of…the leaves.
Tourists don’t dare to litter their single use plastic bottles here, though I found one tetrapack which I disposed in another trash bin originally kept for dog poop (it even had a roll of disposable bags attached to it). No one had told me before, about this city, except my xAI, better known as Grok.
